A typical day in the war
A typical day in the war,
Guns and weapons galore,
Hatred and bitterness surrounds,
If only there was silence around.
I can hear cries of pain here and there,
It scares me but all I can do is stare,
I think of my family and friends at home,
How I miss them, it makes me moan.
Struggling through the mud in the bloody trenches,
Its cold, wet and has the worst of stenches,
Rations of food are a few.
How I long for a stew!
Fighting for my country is an honour,
Tragic as it was losing my mate Conor,
I think about my fellow troop as I gaze at the moon,
I hope this comes to an end and silence and peace comes soon.
