Dead and Gone
Dear wife,

Looking down at our bloody laddies,
Thinking of those evil baddies.
Parasites, that's what they are,
Gone too far.

Patrick, Callus, Damien, Bailey,
Dead and gone I think of them daily.
Our eldest looking forward to the war,
But I hate everything bad they saw.

Dead and gone along with hope,
Without them how will we cope.
My dearest wife, you won't know yet,
You will soon and you'll never forget.

War isn't what I expected,
You always need to be protected.
There's something worse than the pain,
It's having to put up with the blame.

So good-bye my wife,
I have loved my life.

Look after the poppy,
