Design and Technology
The study of Design and Technology at IMS follows the National
Curriculum guidelines and aims to provide an attractive environment for
pupils at Key Stages 2 and 3 for work in the areas of Food, Textiles
and Resistant Materials. Pupils have the opportunity to
develop practical skills using a wide range of stimulating materials
and resources. Pupils learn about nutrition, healthy eating,
hygiene and safety as well as being taught how to cook.
The Design and Technology Department at IMS has developed and fostered
useful industrial and commercial links both locally and within the
County. The Department has contributed on a number of
occasions to the progress of Design and Technology in North Yorkshire.
The school plays a key role in the coordination of the achievements of
pupils in Design and Technology throughout the three phases of
schooling in the area.
