For those with Special Educational Needs

The School has considerable experience of supporting pupils with a wide range of special educational needs, including those who have a Statement of Educational Needs.

Where possible, children's special needs are met within the normal curriculum by the class teacher.  This is possible because we have small classes.  In some subjects, we provide an extra teacher or teaching assistant to support children with their learning.  At other times, in our specialist Learning Support room children receive additional help with basic skills in small groups or individually.  We work closely with parents as well as the Parent and Pupil Support Service.  Parents/Carers are encouraged to share their concerns with us.

The school is equipped for and welcomes pupils with physical disabilities and complies with the Disability and Discrimination Act 2002.  The school has been awarded the North Yorkshire Inclusion Certificate at Level 5.
