Other Visitors & Visits

Visitors from Peru

. In October 2007, we were delighted to welcome two guests from Peru. Max and Racquel were in England visiting organisations who support their work.

Racquel, a princess from the Inca tribe has established a health clinic in a poor area of Quecha which offers health and sanitation advice to local families. Together they established an orphanage which has developed into a school and recently they were able to build a playground.

They played some traditional Peruvian music and sang for the whole school, explaining the significance of their songs. The songs expressed thanks to God and it is this Christian faith which has inspired them to do this work.
We believe that it is important to invite guests from other countries to speak to the whole school, to increase their global awareness and particularly to become aware of how different children's lives are in other countries and cultures.

We hope that they will take with them a knowledge and empathy that will enable them to be effective global citizens.

Day trips are also organised by each year group or by subject teachers where appropriate.Img_0397

Recent visits have included an excursion to Bolton Museum to study art, ecology and Egyptology; a visit to the Imperial War Museum in Manchester, the Buddhist Centre at Ulverston and a multi-sports day at Lancaster University.

We also offer a range of theatre trips out of school hours. Visiting artists, poets, musicians and theatre groups - English and French - are invited into school on a regular basis and are highly valued by staff and pupils alike.

Because of community links with La Chapelle des Marais in France, we are fortunate to be able to welcome French visitors quite often.
As part of the French Exchange, we welcome a class of French youngsters to the school and our homes for one week each year. Pupils from our partner European Schools visit on a less regular basis.

'The Vibe' NOF funding has allowed a variety of after school activities such as drama, dance, music and puppet making.
