Our Aims

Working in partnership with parents, the staff of Ingleton Middle School put great emphasis on the individual child.

We want all children to discover the pleasure of learning and enjoy success. We encourage them to aim for excellence within our rich and varied environment. Children should be self-disciplined, self-motivated and enthusiastic in their work and show responsibility for their own learning and behaviour. All contributions are valued. Children should feel confident to question and have the freedom to debate rationally.

Our work involves problem solving and perseverance is required. Childrens' efforts are praised and, as their self-confidence and self-awareness develop, they acquire the knowledge and skills which will be useful to them in other contexts.

Respect for the views, beliefs and attitudes of others is encouraged and tolerance is stressed in lessons, assemblies and in everyday activities. We are sensitive to young people's rapidly developing personalities and characters and by building on success and recognising children's contributions, we aim to strengthen every individual.

Each child is unique and we believe that the differences between them are assets.
