To promote a Healthy Mind along with a Healthy Body and a Healthy World,
we enjoyed Health Week on June 21 - 25, 2004
Timetable for Health Week Year 7
Year 7 and 8 took different main topics to study for 6 hours within the week and the same minor topics and were involved in different types of physical activity.

Land's End to John o' Groats Run
All pupils ran or walked around the track each morning and classes competed against each other to cover the distance from Land's End to John o' Groats.

Alcohol Awareness Year 8
Pupils attended Skipton Court where they were involved in a scripted role play about a drink related driving offence.

Food for Thought
Follow up activities in class included looking at facts and figures concerning alcohol abuse, the strength of different types of alcohol and resisting peer pressure.

Pupils looked at how the companies persuade people to buy alcohol and designed tasty alternatives - non- alcoholic cocktails

Sporting Champion
We were delighted to welcome Gemma Phillips - British cross-country athletics champion - into school. She talked to pupils, answered their questions and then led workshops in the afternoon.
Introduction to different ways of keeping fit. Shandaw School of Dance led both year groups in line dancing and rock `n roll

Health and Money
Pupils looked at how much people could buy if they didn't smoke. The results were amazing.

Emotional Health Role Play
Year 8 pupils looked at emotions and how to handle them.

Year 8 pupils considered how different ways of thinking helps to resolve problems.

Healthy two course meals
Pupils present their healthy meals for two.

In Food Technology,
Pupils discuss the balance of foods required to keep healthy, and plan a healthy meal.

Year 7 pupils looked at the issue of smoking and its associated problems.
